Ian Hambleton Award for Hunger

This award is being presented by Aldershot Lions (now Farnborough & Aldershot Lions), in memory of Ian Hambleton, a former Hunger Officer, to the Lion, Club or Zone which has made the greatest impact on or improving food security and access to nutritious food to alleviate hunger and avoid food wastage within 105SC.

It will be awarded for the first time at the 2025 District Convention.

It can be awarded for one particular action such as a taking part in providing soup kitchens or similar; working in Food Banks; supporting food banks by giving donations; providing food parcels at Christmas and gleanings. It could also be awarded to a club that works with another group to help relieve hunger including working with a local council to improve the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. In fact anything to improve hunger will be considered by the GST Committee and the DG team.

To enter, all you have to do is record what you are doing on the Lions Portal and complete the Competition Entry Form which will be sent out in November. I would ask that I can advertise any new activities so that other clubs can take them on as well."
